ALTER-EU seeks intern to work on new campaign

The Alliance for Lobbying Transparency and Ethics Regulation (ALTER-EU) is looking for an intern to join our small team and help us to launch and coordinate a new campaign “Stand up against excessive lobbying from banks and big business”, to run before and during the EU parliamentary elections in May 2014. ALTER-EU is a coalition of more than 200 civil society groups concerned with the increasing influence exerted by corporate lobbyists on the political agenda in Europe and the resulting loss of democracy in EU decision-making.

How to make EU lobby transparency credible and reliable“, including about the lobbyists' code of conduct and the complaints mechanism.

All the signs emerging from the Commission are that they would prefer to retain their voluntary and 'light touch' approach to lobbying regulation. This reports proofs why this is unsustainable.

New report shows urgent need to rescue EU's ineffective lobby register

A few days before the second birth day of the European Commission and European Parliament's joint lobby register, our new report shows that the voluntary register is still failing to get a sufficient share of lobbyists to register. Moreover, the register remains packed with unreliable and incomplete data.
