Finance lobbyists do everything in their power to prevent tighter rules for the financial sector in response to the financial crisis. Are they successful? ALTER-EU and DEO focused on corporate lobbying in the EU. Presentations were given by ALTER-EU spokespeople Olivier Hoedeman and Kenneth Haar.

Together with partner group DEO, ALTER-EU organised the successful public debate to which more than 80 people participated. Kenneth Haar held a presentation on the influence of the financial industry, highlighting ALTER-EU's work around the corporate capture of expert groups. Olivier Hoedeman focused on the lobbying battle around EU food labeling rules and presented ALTER-EU's ten key demands.

Afterwards a four-hour workshop ended with a panel debate featuring the chair of the Danish consumers' union, two industry lobbyists and MEP Søren Søndergaard.
